Many consumers are finding difficult to buy milk packets in retail outlets due to heavy rainfall.
Aavin supplies were hit from Monday due to stagnation of water and heavy rain. Areas of Chinmaya Nagar, Anna Nagar, Choolai, Thiruvanmiyur, Adyar and several areas in Central Chennai were the worst affected. “I didn’t have any milk and I couldn’t find Aavin packs in retail outlets as well. The whole area did not have Aavin supply,” said a resident from anna nagar.
The dairy is situated inside the Ambattur industrial estate, which is a low-level area and there is no place where the water can be pumped out. It will have to drain out on its own. Already, the water has come down by over a foot. The normality is expected to return after a month .
lot of nearby residents complained that Aavin had supplied milk only to its card holders.
Meanwhile, Aavin has arranged for milk supply from its Vellore and Villupuram dairies.
By Friday, it is hoped that the Ambattur dairy will also be operational.
