Monsoon brings down trees

Due to continuous heavy rain and wind lot of old trees gets up rooted and falls on road. Falling of trees seems very often in rainy season, this affects and roadway transportation and also causing danger to the people walking nearby.

The wall of the park in Langs Graden Road in Pudpet collapsed yesterday morning due to fall of trees along the sides of the wall in heavy wind and rain. Though the park is not well maintained and cleaned properly the pavement has been home for many homeless people, now they have to find a new home due to rain and also due to falling of trees.

The corporation is trying to clear out the fallen trees as soon as possible but have not succeeded in it. The fallen tree blocks and road and causes traffic in the busy road which in connecting main junctions of Egmore and Anna Salai. Since the tree was not removed local residents nearby tried to cut it down and push it to one side of the road making way for the vehicles to pass by.

Apart from these the rain has damaged roads and water get stagnated in many parts of the city causing huge trouble in travelling and even day today activity has been difficult due to heavy rain.

The Kochi police housing board in K.N.K road Nugambakkam also suffers this problem due to up rooted trees and stagnated water which is above the knee level even inside house. Due to the fall of trees many parts of the city suffers from power supplies as it falls on the cables and lamp post.
