Rain poured down like a persistent gadfly from monday morning till the last stragglers lit up fireworks late at night. The showers may have wrecked the Diwali spirit but, marvel of marvels, the of rainfall the city received on the day helped reduce festival pollution .

"A tree had fallen across the road covering the major part of the two-way road. It took me 3hrs time to reach my workspot," said a regular commuter.
Call taxi drivers said that to protect their vehicles from getting damaged, many of them decided not to pick up calls. Potholes were hidden under stagnant water and driving over them would result in damage to their vehicles.
