‘Nilam Danger’
continues: Flood in Marina
Chennai, 19, Nov: Cyclone Nilam has created tremendous
damage and destruction in the state of Tamil Nadu. Even after three days of
heavy rain most of the places in Tamil Nadu has not yet recovered from the
impact of Nilam. Ordinary life of people
is yet in a standstill in most parts of the state.
Among the important places of Tamil Nadu, Chennai incurred
huge damage due to cyclone. Most of the parts in Chennai are inundated in water
which is still continuing.
Marina beach, World’s
second longest beach which witnessed a huge water logging in the beach,
resulted in the absence of beach area. Cyclone Nilam has flooded the Marina
beach with the intrusion of sea into the sandy area of the beach. On the day of heavy rain not even a single
sand was visible. That situation has changed but even then many parts of beach
is still under water. Small shops in the beach was also submerged in the water.
The number of visitors in the beach reduced hugely because of the rain. Even
though we can see some people and children playing in the water logging as if it’s
the part of sea. Water logged in the area is creating panic among the people as
it may result in contaminated diseases. Many residents in the nearby areas are
complaining about the mosquitos and also the beach has now become an area
dumped with garbage due to flood.
