Be it as a hairstyle, costumes or anything. People seek to the old fashion in order to try the new one. “Nowadays, everyone tend to follow certain things to look different than the usual look. In the process of trying something new, they adopt the old fashion which gives classy look that creates a trendsetter among public” says a Beautician. There are few examples which explain how the old trend plays the major role in contemporary life.
The ultimate reason to style your hair is to look attractive. Though it is short hair or long hair, there are some styles which can suit for a particular type of face. People want to pursue the hairstyle that was well known by others. “They want to capture the body and the texture of the former styles with some modern look. That’s how it works along with the audience” explains Hairstylist.
“When it comes to costumes, most of the women prefer exclusive one. Ethnic wears like sarees and half sarees are craze for them. They used to approach me with the mixture of both old and modern style with the classy look” says a costume designer. Even the old bullet bike model has become the new shift for all the youngsters. People get influenced by the idea of fashion by observing certain facts of seasonal trend. In India, it depends on the culture and tradition. The aim is to focus on what our culture taught us and how we adopt it in our own way.

Moore market – small world of old books

A place where a book lovers can hunt valuable books with a low price. Besides the books stores, Moore market is also famous for its aquarium & fish shops, birdcages, antiques and odd electronic items.

Located near the ever busy Center Railway Station, Moore Market originally built to house the hawkers in the Broadway area of Madras. Its foundation stone was laid by Sir George Moore, president of the Madras Corporation in 1898.  Over the years, it gradually took the status of a flea market where one could buy rare and second hand items for a bargain.

If you expect Moore market to be filled with cool and hippy bookstores like Landmarks, Crosswords, Higgins then you will be disappointed. On the contrary, Moore Market is a gloomy mall packed with several small stores, which primarily offers old/new/pirated books with endless list of collections ranging from classics, comics, fictions, non-fictions, (auto)biographies, magazines, school/college text books, etc. There is no fixed price for any of these books. The price purely depends on the buyers bargaining skills. The shopkeepers are helpful. The sellers' knowledge about books pertaining to science, humanities and fiction was impressive which helps the buyers to find their choice amidst the heap of books.

In the history of the market, it was destroyed by a flame in 1985. In the 1940s, the market became a tourist destination for residents of the Madras Presidency. Anybody who visited the city wouldn't leave without visiting the market.

Though the More Market stores lacks the trendy appeal, certainly it has its own charm which keeps it’s murky stores still thronged with book lovers.

THE NEW GAMING DESTINATION : THE LASER TAG

It’s the game Barney made popular in the series How I Met Your Mother and involves teams of players shooting each other with radio frequency and infra-red emitting guns.
Laser tag is said to have originated in the U.S. in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s. “It came to India in early 2005, starting off with Delhi and Mumbai. It did take a while coming to Chennai but the craze is catching up,” says kumar ,laser tag incharge of kilpauk branch. The arena is lit only by fluorescent, glow-in-the-dark paint on the walls, mazes and barrels and the flickering lights with high voltage music blaring from speakers.
Chaos Entertainment in Gopalapuram, adds to the excitement by switching off even the neon lights during the last three minutes of the game. The result — chaos and loud shrieks as dark shadows creep up on you from behind obstacles and shoot at you. They call it the Stealth Mode, something they came up with thanks to a power cut mid-game.
Even though their gaming zone offers PS4 and X Box One Kinect, its laser tag that’s the most popular. “In a day 70 per cent of our clients come to play this game,” he adds. Here, there are seven different modules to choose from and the number of teams can go up to seven depending on the module. Evenings see a packed house. In addition Chaos offers happy hours from noon to 4 p.m. where clients are charged Rs. 170 rather than the usual Rs. 250 for 15 minutes.
The game is ideal for two teams of five each. The objective is to shoot your opponents and score maximum points within your time frame. If the  group is small, you can opt for a death match, where you compete as individuals. As the people take cover behind neon obstacles in an otherwise pitch dark room, an active smoke machine and a racy soundtrack from a James Bond movie, do their bit to get the adrenalin pumping. By the end of the 10 minutes, all stagger out, some even breathless, but everyone thoroughly excited. 10 minutes is the perfect duration, but we also have a 15-minute option that will completely exhaust everyone .adding that their in-house cafe provides much needed snacks (think sandwiches, burgers, milkshakes, etc) after the express work out.
its a must try gaming spot for all age groups.

QUEEN OF WASTEPAPER

Mangai, owns four paper mart store and a grocery shop in Adyar Zone

She sits on the broken bed, all smiles and laughter, tells me hoe she got into the job of collecting waste, a fact that she remembers since she was ten years old, when she and her brothers used to run around and collect waste from houses for the shop owner in Tirunnelveli. Mangai, now at the age of 40, owns Chellathi Waste Paper Mart in Besant Nagar, says about how juggling the shop and her home has been quite the difficult task for her. By the time she sends off her eldest son and her younger daughter to college, it's really late for her to open the shop, even though  her children are old enough to take care of themselves. To her children comes first. Widowed at the young age of 24,says that her only ambition in life is to make her children have everything in the future without lacking anything.

Apart from having four paper mart store in Adyar Zone, she has also recently opened a grocery store with the help of fund business is called Mangai Maligai Kadai (Mangai Grocery Store). This is a source of pride and comfort for her. Her day begins at 3O'clock in the morning - to go pick up fruits and vegetables from Koyambedu, rush to the grocery store in Besant Nagar to stock it up, rush back home to to send her kids off and then rush to Chellathi Waste Paper Mart where she stays till in the evening.

The only difficulty she faces is that the absent of a tricycle which she finds hard to get up materials from houses that are far away from the shop. After her husbands death, her two younger brothers have pushed her to achieve more, even now, when she feels sick her brother takes the work, especially with picking up waste.
When her son told her about how his friends were making fun of him about the profession of her, she told him to look at the people who were not as lucky as them and to know that no work should be belittled. When she goes to meet the dealers to collect payment for a load of a paper or plastic, she is met with respect and esteem. A small part of this is because of the fact that she is “Arul’s elder sister” (Arul, her brother. Bills always come addressed to her as “Arul Akka”) but is to a big part because she turns in profits that many other men paper owners don’t. All this, she says, provides her with immense pride about the profession she is in. However, in the end, she also talks about how even now she doesn’t truly feel like the owner of Chellathai Waste Paper Mart, because she is constantly under the name and protection of her brothers. Her new grocery shop, on the other hand, helps her overcome this feeling.

Madhya Kailash a stifle point for commuters

Traffic jam in Madhya Kailash
There is not a single place in Chennai without traffic. Perhaps like any other Indian city, with the burgeoning population and the increasing number of vehicles that hit the road every year what more can you expect? Of course, the Detroit of Asia has to handle it. But of recent, the Metro Rail construction has made it worse. What’s even worse is it stays to be the same throughout and nothing seems to have eased the constipation. Traffic jams are becoming one of the foremost issues that are faced by the public nowadays. Intense traffic congestion during peak hours is a stinging point for commuters on Sardar Patel Road. If you’re stuck in traffic near CLRI, it invariably takes half-an-hour or even more to get moving; sometimes it might take even an hour. There seems to be no solution in sight any soon.

Specially the most famous educational institutions like Anna University, IIT-Madras, and CLRI are situated on Sardar Patel Road, besides of course, the Kendriya Vidyalaya School. Moreover, it is a key road for software employees to reach their workplace on the IT corridor.

Raman. K, a shopkeeper near CLRI, pointed out that the IT Expressway was the main reason for this congestion. He said, “From 9.00am to 11am and from 4 pm to 8 pm, traffic is very high. At times, vehicles on this road remain still for 15 minutes at a stretch. It takes at least 30 minutes to reach Madhya Kailash junction from Gandhi Mandhapam. As right turn to Adyar is barred for vehicles coming down from IT Expressway, they take a U-turn at Kotturpuram Road junction, which increases the traffic density. ”

Ravi, a software engineer, did was let out a sigh. “Even though I start an hour earlier from home, it is difficult to reach my office at Siruseri on time. Vehicles are line up on this road during peak hours and refuse to move. Until and unless the government takes adequate steps to ease traffic density, there would be much chaos in future.”

Arasan, a school student, who has studied traffic congestion in the city extensively, said, “I could predict a severe congestion at this junction in the near future. In my opinion, the ultimate solution to this problem is constructing a new flyover parallel to the existing one. No buildings need to be demolished for this.”

Commuters to omr has to take a right so they wait till the opposite side that is from the adyar signal to Madhya kailah signal so what people do in the other is they over take them to come forward and they the block the road”. One of the main reasons is that there are no proper signals in this busy area.

The cause for the heavy traffic in this junction is that Adyar is one of the major routes to reach Guindy and areas beyond. So there traffic flow there is heavy. Right from Adyar signal to Madhya Kailash the traffic is just about what one can handle. After that, it gets as worse as it can. Until you get to the other side of Sardar Patel road you will regret every moment.  If you are a pedestrian, I challenge you to cross the road anywhere near Anna University in one of the peak evenings. It will take you half-an-hour to have  clear shot while the nearest zebra-crossing would be about a kilometer or two away. And, coming back to driving, until you reach ITC Grand Chola you will face Adyar’s traffic fury. Would you be free after that? Nope. Don’t even think about it. You will be the victim of Guindy’s fury next.

The government has tried various solutions to solve this heavy traffic problem but nothing has worked. There are plans for new flyovers to be built.
