Everyone knew about the agony Chennai faced. The authorities
are still in the process of calculating the damages and the heavy loses of the
residents of Chennai. Two weeks had gone after the massive flood washed away
the main veins of Chennai. The real suffers are the middle class and the lower
middle class people. But of course, the flood even drenched thousands and
thousands of four wheelers. So, everybody suffered, irrespective of class,
creed and caste.
It is indeed a great lesson for the people of Chennai as
well for the Tamil Nadu Government to learn the consequences during such
calamities. Now, a time has come to know the low line areas in Chennai where Government
should announce the problems in the entire district of Chennai. These will definitely
create a great awareness among the people of Chennai.
During the heavy rainfall, the rivers and streams are in
spate and breach their bank and the irrigation tanks overflow and cause heavy
damage to the embankments and structures.
Mechanic shops are getting busy since the city is getting
dried. Some of the mechanic shops in Pudhupet flooded with heavy water though
most of the vehicles have been flashed out. Mechanics are facing the toughest
time of repairing hell out of vehicles in their hands. Few of them offer free
services for the affected people. It is said that there were more than 500
people near pudhupet who has stayed in Corporation school because of heavy
water flood.
Virugambakkam is another worst affected area. The main road
for transportation is the Arcot road, where there are lots of ditches, ups and
downs. It’s really hard to believe that, the PWD, Metro water, Corporation are
still working hard and fighting to drain the stagnating water in many parts of
the city. Rehabilitation work is going on where the roads which are near to the place are also getting affected. Even the pedestrian crossing have been flooded whereas people couldn't walk to the bus stand. More efforts and efficiency is needed not only for the Government
machine also to every individual to make Chennai back to its position.
