Chennai emerges in its own hands

Chennai and its coastal areas of the state were marooned in flood waters due to heavy rain that hits the city and the neighbouring districts on Dec 1, 2015. This massive rain made the city to shut down from rail and road links even the airport for the day.
One day's rainfall covered a month's average which also flooded areas in Vadapalani, Valasaravakkam, Virugambakkam and Nandampakkam as nearby lakes overflowed into the city. People have nothing to do rather than sitting at home where they have no source of current and mobile signal to communicate with anyone. In some areas, homes were flooded with water due to the discharge of water form in Chembarambakkam Lake and Porur Lake creates a major disaster for the living people in those areas. Most of the people were in need of food and shelter.
Apart from Government’s rescue operation, Private associations, number of Entrepreneurs and Volunteers has helped those needy people in many ways creating a rescue teams on their own. In Virugambakkam, Mrs.Rita Annamalai who is the secretary of Amma Bhagavan’s people welfare association provided food in the nearby areas for more than 200 families. Their provision helped people in many ways. Henceforth, most of the volunteers have come up with the same good cause and made citizens survive. Most of them used Social media for the communication and for transferring information on relief.
Chennai is getting back to normal and it seems that people are aware of facing anything than before.
